Last Friday we had a great time at the opening for Drawn to Letters. Thanks again to Patch for helping with the show! The letter I was assigned was ‘A.’ It took a long time to commit to an idea – for a long time I was trying out ‘aviary’ but nothing I sketched seemed to work out. Maps were always in the back of my mind. I attribute this to my recent internship at The Library Company of Philadelphia, making records of their antique map collection. Some of the way historic maps are drawn is just so awesome! I love the patterns, they are actually quite detailed and graphic even though they look simple at a glance. I love it! So eventually, A is for Atlas evolved and this is my result:
